A comprehensive review of the importance of informational skills in the field of scientometrics is presented. In the current context, where the exponential growth of scientific production and the complexity of information are evident, the need to develop specific skills to manage this information effectively is highlighted. The research is based on the PRISMA methodology and reviews 11 studies that address the informational skills needed to perform scientometric analysis. These skills are identified as fundamental to optimize the research process, facilitating the search, evaluation and critical use of information. The study concludes that a more focused approach to informational skills can significantly improve the quality and effectiveness of scientometric studies, suggesting that attention should be paid to their development in professionals and academics in the area
