In recent years, the concept of dignified death has generated a constant debate from medical, social, ethical, religious and legal perspectives. This study analyzes, from comparative law, the dignified death of terminally ill persons. The research used a mixed approach: qualitative, through reflective quotes, and quantitative, with the use of statistical data. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, as well as documentary techniques and interviews to support the results. It was concluded that, in Ecuador, the laws recognize the patient's right to decide about his or her life and health, which requires decriminalizing the Penal Code to allow a digni-fied death without suffering
