Bibliometric Analysis onarterial stiffness in the period 2013-2023

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is a physiological process related to aging and metabolic vascular deterioration. It is a well-established predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the general population and even in different subgroups of patients, such as: hypertensive, diabetic, renal insufficiency, coronary patients, among others.
Objective: To describe the scientific production published on arterial stiffness in the SCOPUS, PubMed and Crossref databases.
Method: Observational, descriptive, retrospective, bibliometric study of the articles available in the SCOPUS, PubMed and Crossref databases between January 2013 and September 2023. Productivity, appointment impact, collaboration, and usage metrics were studied.
Results: A total of 10788 articles were published; Of these, 77,28% were original and 17% were open access. 92% were written in English and 8% in Spanish. The most productive year was 2023, with a total of 1997 articles published on the topic. The Journal of Vascular Surgery is the journal with the largest number of publications on the subject.
Conclusions: It is concluded that the scientific production on arterial stiffness has increased in the last five years. This study offers objective evidence to guide researchers and facilitate a bibliometric review and integration on arterial stiffness, within the interdisciplinary context.
